These cylinders are used for compressed and liquefied gasses under pressure with a water capacity of between 0.5 Litres and 150Litres. This standard does not apply to Acetylene cylinders.
This standard is primarily for industrial gasses other than LPG but may be applied for LPG. This standard is considered to be more onerous than the dedicated LPG cylinder inspection standard as the gasses contained in these cylinders can often be toxic, flammable, corrosive and may cause damage to the environment if released into the atmosphere.
Safe Gas Cylinders use the hydraulic method of pressure test to ensure the cylinder is fit for further use. The retest frequency of these cylinder is determined by the gas service of the cylinder, this is detailed in the ADR book P200 Packing instructions.
